DID HOPE UZODINMA, GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE DEMOLISH AN HOSPITAL BUILT BY ROCHAS OKOROCHA'S ADMINSTRATION?

CLAIM.



According to a Facebook post made on Wednesday, 25th of November 2020,  the Imo State government led by Govr. Hope Uzodinma demolished the Somto hospital built by the last adminstration which was led by Rochas Okorocha.

The post has the pictures of the Somto hospital in Owerri which was said to be demolished by the Hope Uzodinma led government.


ROUNDCHECK FINDINGS:


On 23rd of November 2020, an article was published on The Nation online news website titled: Uzodinma’s demolition of Somto Hospital, Owerri


 "The demolition Of Somto Hospital Owerri, on the directive of Governor Hope Uzodinma refers. For the records, Somto Hospital was built in memory of an innocent 12-year old boy who was callously killed by soldiers during the demolition Of Ekeukwu Market Owerri in August 2017, on the directive of then Governor Rochas Okorocha"


The article went forward by narrating while the hospital was demolished


"During the 2019 campaigns, some governorship candidates promised to bring back the Ekeukwu Owerri Market on the same spot it was, if elected. Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Ikedi Ohakim, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and a few others, all pledged to rebuild Ekeukwu Owerri Market. In fairness to Governor Hope Uzodinma, he is only doing what he promised. Emeka Ihedioha, would have demolished Somto Hospital for Ekeukwu Owerri". 


The hospital was constructed where a market was sited and the demolition is for the return of the ancestral market. 


Furthermore, on November 18 2020, Punchng.com  published a news piece titled: Hospital destruction: Fight me, not Imo people, Okorocha tells Uzodimma.


"A former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha has appealed to his successor, Governor Hope Uzodinma, to stop the destruction of his legacy projects in the state. Okorocha, made the appeal on Tuesday. He was reacting to the demolition of the Somtochukwu Hospital, built during his administration." Punching.com reported.
